Statement of Position

Statement of position
By Emma and Mahrae

On Friday 3rd of May, Yr 5 tried to write the best statement of position for the topic Everyone should learn to cook. We tried to use rhetorical questions, alliteration, language of opinion and interesting sentences.  We wanted to make it really interesting for the audience. Here are some of them:

How would you like to be a famous chef like Jamie Oliver? It’s as simple  as learning how to cook. Common sense determines that learning to cook can lead to many things. For an example you can become a  professional, surprise your mum for Mothers Day’s or even be able to know how to cook in the bush when you’re camping.
By Mahrae and Emma

Have you heard of Jamie Oliver? I bet you have. He’s one of the most famous chefs in the world. How would you like to be someone like him? Five stars restaurants, your own TV show, adored by the world. Common sense determines that if you want to be like him then you have to learn to cook.  Reasons you should learn to cook include passing down generations of delicious recipes, saving money and even making money!
By Mikayla

Does your kitchen rule? It is true to say that your kitchen will rule if you learn to cook. If you learn to cook, the chances you will be a natural are high.  There are so many famous cooks out there, you could be one, you could even have your own TV show. Wouldn’t your mum love to relax on her birthday and Mother’s Day?  If you learn to cook she can!
By Meg

Wouldn't it feel good to be owning a five star restaurant, or owning your own cooking tv show? That is what cooking can do for you. It can be left with no doubt that everyone should learn to cook. You could learn to cook yourself, save money and even be one of the famous chefs. You could be Adriano Zumbo, cooking famous desserts or Jamie Oliver, cooking famous dishes that taste sensational. Would you like to be a professional chef, watched by millions on tv?

Noun Rap

Noun Rap
By Meg and Jasmine
In class Year 5 have learnt the noun rap. The lyrics to the noun rap are:

Noun Rap
A noun is the name of a person, place or thing,
like Sam in Sydney with a ball of string.

An adjective, an adjective describes a noun,
like a big, wide smile on a painted clown.

Verbs, verbs, are doing words,
they like to move and fly like the birds

An adverb likes to add to a verb
and tell you more about the word.

Nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs
learn these carefully and you will be superb

Year 5 got split into 5 groups and each group got a verse. We then recorded the groups doing their verse. We all had a lot of fun doing it.

QR Treasure Hunt

QR Treasure Hunt
By Gabby N and Gaby S

On Thursday Year 5 had fun with QR codes.  How a QR code works is, you need to download the app  QR reader on your iphone, ipad, android etc.
Miss Lee created these QR codes using a website called QR Creator, Miss Lee added a question to each QR code.
We had to scan the QR code and when we scanned it, the iPad gave us a question.

QR codes are usually found on drink bottles like coke  etc.

This is a QR code.

Miss Lee thought that doing our test, with pen and paper seemed boring so she created a QR code hunt. Our class thought that doing this was very fun. We had a competition, who could get the most right out of the 30 questions.  Kathleen and Gabby N received 28/30 and won a prize.

Van Gogh's Sunflowers

Van Gogh's Sunflowers

By Michael V and Dylan

Painting by Van Gogh Image from: http://www.vggallery.com/painting/p_0455.htm

For art we have been  learning about Van Gogh. We have been painting sunflowers like ones Van Gogh painted. We made 2 artworks, one with just 2 pencils, 1 HB and the other 2B. The other we used a pencil, oil pastels and some paint.

We had to draw a vase, the flowers and the line of the table and on the other painting we had to draw the vase and the flowers again, paint the background and we had to smudge and colour the flowers in oil pastels.

Year 5 did great at it and the results were very good. We hope we can paint another of Van Gogh’s masterpieces, since it was fun.
